Join a D2B Interest Group! Belonging to District 2B offers the opportunity to participate in any of our Special Interest Groups. These include Quilting, Photography, Youth Programs, Crafting and Floral Design. Other topics such as bees and butterflies or birds can be added as interest is expressed.
Each group is able to plan its own schedules, activities and interactions. There are no requirements for participation and no cost (except perhaps for materials for a specific project). You can participate as much or little as you like - but without signing up, you won’t know what’s happening! See the contact information below.
Benefits, Guidelines and Expectations Benefits: • Sharing ideas and gain new skills beyond the scope of the local club. • Environments for disseminating knowledge so all participants learn new techniques and skills. • New friendships and connections between clubs. • Ideas that members can implement in their local clubs. • Examples of how any area of interest can support fund-raising for the district or clubs. • Increased awareness of, and pride in the district. • Educational outreach to communities. • Activities to attract potential new garden club members. • Opportunities for leadership.
Guidelines: • Each Interest Group is free to organize themselves any way that makes sense to them. • Members can decide when, and how often they want to physically meet. • They might limit their interaction to e-mail (difficult when some members might not have an e-mail address). • They might help out at each other’s events. • They might develop their own newsletter, Facebook page, or blog to share ideas. Expectations: • Group leader(s) will contact members on a regular basis. • Activities will be reported in the district newsletter. • Effort will be made to find participants from every club. • Events will rotate to locations around the district. • All club members will be invited and encouraged to attend Interest Group events. • Groups will consider offering educational events to the public. • Groups will consider ways to use their interest and skills to help the district and clubs in fund-raising. • No stress, no pressure, provide enjoyable experiences!
