In 2019 the club started a renovation project for the Cromaine gardens to a Native/ Butterfly friendly garden. There were several pine trees that had become diseased & removed, making our shade garden into a sun garden. In August 2021 our newly renovated garden was introduced to the public. To help with the cost we incorporated a Buy A Brick fundraiser, allowing the public to purchase a brick, engrave it with a personal message then placed in the pathway thru our upper garden. We started a annual Native Plant sale fundraiser thru East Michigan Native Plants, this takes place in June at the Cromaine library. This is a great way to fundraise for the club along with promoting Native plants in the garden.
In 2022 the club built a Insect Hotel for the Childrens garden at Cromaine, working along with the childrens garden coordinator to teach children & adults the importance of beneficial bugs, insects & pollinators in the garden.
Our club along with Hartland Community Council provide a decorative Flower arrangement in May and a Holiday gift in December to the Meals on Wheels recipients. The club has been sponsoring this program for over 20 years. The 3rd Saturday in May we sponsor the Perennial Plant exchange. Bring a Plant – Take a Plant. To stay connected over the summer months the club members have started a “Sip & Stroll” thru the garden, this is a great way to keep in touch and view the members gardens. It is very exciting to see the different garden types & styles that each individual gardener has to offer. |
