Community Gardens:
West End Gardens (1995 - present) These six permanent gardens within the street median at the west end city entrance were established to create a beautiful entry to Marshall on West Michigan Ave. from I-69. The redesign and renewal of these gardens were a 2017-19 special project. These gardens are maintained by the club. Fountain Circle Gardens (1988 - present)
Four island beds of annuals are planted and maintained each spring and summer by club members. These plantings add to the beauty of the Fountain Circle west of the downtown area. Carver Park Garden (2000 - present) Perennials, annuals, shrubs and trees were planted to create this new garden in Marshall. The club maintains this garden. This beautification project has resulted in the increased use of this city park on the east end of our downtown area. Blue Star Memorial Marker
Michigan’s 64th Blue Star Memorial was dedicated on July 15, 2012 with the Marshall Area Garden Club By-Way Marker in Carver Park Gardens, located on East Michigan Avenue. City Urns (2018 - present) The club plants the city urns in the spring and creates other seasonal urn displays throughout the year. Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Memorial Urns (2022) Adam Crosswhite Memorial Garden (2022) In 2022, the garden club helped refurbish the two monuments at the intersection of East Mansion Street and East Michigan Avenue. At the same time, the garden club also refurbished the perennial garden near the Adam Crosswhite Memorial. Main Fundraiser: Welcome to My Garden Tour (1991- present) The annual two-day tour of several Marshall area gardens and a garden market is held the second full weekend in July. This is the club’s major fund raising project to support all club activities such as programs and meetings and all ongoing club projects. All club members participate in some capacity to make this event a success. |
